Hello Tim. I was listening to your message about the shortage of Pastors in the church. Of course this is an issue with a lot of different churches. I have a heart for this issue. I was part of the Circuit Riding Ministry from the Kansas City Baptist Temple. We filled the pulpits of those small churches without a pastor. I was wondering if you have a discipleship ministry in your churches and to what depth do they go? Do they have different levels of discipleship and how are you engaging in the younger generation of your churches to teach them the Bible besides preaching on Sunday morning? It is important to protect your doctrine and stand on the Word of God and it is also important to teach people how to teach and minister to one another. Training people up in the ministry helps to build a base to train up Pastors and to re-produce yourselves. I really enjoyed your message. I was ordained at KCBT and Commissionsed to start a new church in another area of Kansas City. I was sent out with 13 people to start the new church. I pastored for 11 years and turned the church over to a younger person. One whom we trained up in the ministry and promoted from within the church. I have retired from Pastoring. I am 69 years old but what I learned the most is that even the Preaching is very important, Pastoring is shepherding and not just about the preaching. It is not for the faint of heart to take the mix of all personality types and and different backgrounds and teach them to be of one body, one mind, and one accord. It is a challenge that can be both rewarding and disappointing. I always found that God always knew how to pick me up at the low points and keep me humble if I was getting a bigger head from to many compliments for my messages. Lol. God know how to keep us and train us if we let him. Feel free to reach out if you’d like and may God bless you and the ministry.
